REVIEWS

Voted 2nd place in "Best Blues Around the Globe" international category! Blues Matters Writers Poll 2015

. . . a superb night with all three musicians at the top of their craft. Debbie’s sweet guitar backed up by her beautiful voice was matched by the superb keyboard and harp of Rick, all driven along by the effortless minimal drumming of Mickey Barker. . . . Blues In Britian

. . . In keeping with the motif of this year's festival, next up were taster performances from three of Alabama's finest singer songwriter performers, Lisa Mills, Debbie Bond and Hannah Aldridge. Although they offered their own unique take on Americana, what united them was their impassioned, powerful and soulful vocals - they must put something in the water down there. . . . The Red White Rag

. . . the state bird of Alabama, the Yellowhammer, and a name given to the performance of the artists appearing at the Maverick festival from this southern state. Debbie Bond, Sonia Leigh, Hannah Aldridge and Lisa Mills were the quartet involved on the outside stage under the banner of the Alabama Sweethearts . . . The fouth member of this quartet was Debbie Bond who really shone during her set in the Barn on Sunday morning. She was by far the most blues influenced of the artists witnessed over the weekend and alongside partner Rick Aserson, delivered a highly inspirational set of deluxe music from the thriving roots melting pot of Alabama. . . . Three Chords and the Truth

. . . Rick Asherson accompanied by blues singer/guitarist Debbie bond did an excellent job teaching a good dozen beginners to make pretty impressive “train sounds” . . . and even sort of play along to some basic blues melodies. It was a whole lot of fun. Life Is A Festival

We have been putting on top blues acts for over 20 years . . . I can honestly say it was one of the highlights of our club. Debbie's wonderful vocals and guitar were perfectly complemented by Rick's keyboard and harp as they wove their songs together in complete synchronicity . . . Blues with Bottle at The Anchor, Sevenoaks

. . . Debbie’s warm husky vocals float abover her shimmering mother-of –pearl guitar riffs . . . expertly backed by the TruDats, Rick Asherson flourishes on keys and harp whilst mellow saxophonist Ray Carless and renowned drummer Sam Kelly join the band for this UK tour. From tight drops to closing kicks, every moment is slick yet relaxed between this veteran line-up. Debbie puts women back in the main frame of the blues. The creeks of the backwoods of Alabama flow through the lyrics of these songs, bringing us back through toe-tapping melodies and straight-talking lyrics to the most raw aspects of humanity. . . . The Croyden Citizen

. . . Debbie keeps her feet firmly planted in the tradition of maintaining the blues as a relevant art form. This she does with exhilarating passion and skill to make the notes buzzing out of her guitar fizz with electrifying twang . . . in tandem with her exemplary band known as the Trudats. . . . Three Chords and the Truth

Special thanks to our UK musicians

Sam Kelly

Ray Carless
